Dedicated to geography education since 1991

The Vermont Geographic Alliance (VGA) was established in 1991 by K-12 teachers, college and university faculty, and interested citizens. The VGA is part of a nationwide alliance movement which includes all 50 States.

We are supported by a grant from the National Geographic Society Education Foundation and in-kind support from Castleton State Univeristy. Our partners include the State Department of Education. The VGA Coordinator for the 2016-2017 Program Year is Scott Roper of Castleton State University.

Our Vision...

We envision a geographically literate Vermont where all citizens use geographic information and spatial connections to make far-reaching decisions that create an increasingly livable world.

Our Mission...

The VGA will provide and promote opportunities for advancing geographic literacy and awareness for Vermont's citizens through a variety of programs, policy, and partnership initiatives.
